Yes — when performed by a trained dentist using proper protocol, amalgam removal is safe. At Dentistry SA we follow recommended safe-removal procedures to minimise mercury vapour exposure during the process. Old amalgam fillings are replaced with tooth-coloured, metal-free composite or ceramic restorations that blend seamlessly with your natural teeth and carry none of the concerns associated with mercury-containing materials.

Routine check-ups and cleanings are not only safe but recommended during pregnancy — hormonal changes can increase susceptibility to gum inflammation and dental problems.
